Teen Christmas Party
Thanks to all of you for sharing a little Christmas cheer with each other. We had fun! As we get closer to Christmas day, let's keep in mind who the holiday is really centered around...CHRISTmas. It is His birthday. What will you give to Christ this year for CHRISTmas? What would Christ want for Christmas from you? Just some things to think about. Have a fantastic Christmas and a wonderful New Year and enjoy your time off from school. We will return for Youth Group on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Hope to see you there!

Review-1 John
This week we spent some time in review. Sometimes we don't always understand why we are asked to do something and don't see how this is going to help us understand the Bible any better. We discussed how learning how someone else learns can help us to learn something, too. Trusting that our teachers truly have a desire to teach us something and not just occupy an hour of time is critical to getting anything out of our time together. We are all busy but how we choose to spend our free time speaks volumes about where our hearts are. Follow through. Don't give up or give in. Be accountable to each other.

Sincere love for our brothers
Wednesday, November 18
Tonight we reviewed I John 2:9-11, how we are still in darkness if we hate (are indifferent) to our brothers. We lit one candle and then passed the light around the table. One small light led to 9 lights which dispelled the darkness. How do we have sincere love for our brothers? We looked at I Peter1:22, "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart." We need to repent of our sins, obey God's truths and that love will then be in us to share with our brothers. Spend some time in I Peter this week and learn more about obeying God's truths.

Testing Our Faith
This week in class we were challenged to use 1 John as a test to see if we have 'eternal life'. One of the things that we talked about was that it is through our love for one another that our true spiritual 'heartbeat' can be seen. Our love (and on the other end of the spectrum our hatred) for people is how we can know that we have eternal life. We struggled with the idea of what 'hatred' really means... and we decided that maybe it doesn't have to mean that we despise people. Maybe it could simply be our indifferance to their spiritual condition or our lack of interaction with them because they are 'different' than us. So my question for you this week is: How are you doing in LOVING people like Jesus this week? Have you struggled with this at all in the hallways of your school? How about at home? Also, don't forget to read a chapter a day in 1 John focusing on the word 'World' this week.
